Rye, oh rye are you so frothy?

I have just discovered a new phenomenon. I burned the shit out of some rye bread. When I took it out of the toaster the black parts were frothy. The toast continued to smoke and as I examined it closely, half expecting it to burst into flames, the toaster crackled briefly. After 30 uneventful seconds, I did the sensible thing and put two more pieces of bread in the toaster. The toaster crackled a little bit more but that was it. My point? I've never seen frothy toast before.

I haven't blogged for ages and I have all kinds of excuses. I went on a holiday, my harddrive died (and I'm too lazy to go all the way downstairs to the other computer), etc, etc. The truth is I can't think of a thing to write. It all seems so trivial. Sometimes I'll be yattering incessantly about my big day at home with the baby or a phone call I had and inside my brain is screaming "Tracy Shut The Hell Up! You're Boring Yourself!" Today, however, the burnt toast required documentation.

The holiday was better than ever. I think it's the most relaxed I've been for awhile, despite the craziness that surrounded Thanksgiving dinner. I think it's because I made minimal plans before I went. I also got to spend a little time with my brother and sister-in-law. I wish we lived closer. We used to have a good time when we all lived in Victoria. I miss Vic like crazy sometimes. It was the only place that really felt like THIS is where I belong. I was MEANT to be here. Alas, when we arrived downtown Vic on our trip I was overcome with such a mixture of feelings (happiness, belonging, sadness, disgust, confusion, longing, and more) that I almost threw up in front of Roberta's hats. It was the weirdest thing! Like some sort of sensory overload. I've since decided that perhaps I miss parts of Victoria, and the rest I can do without. I think another thing is that I was 100% independent there for the first and only time in my life.

I'm sure to be back soon. I find that I blog in spurts, purging like some kind of blog-bulemic.

Aha! Yes, but I was having trouble publishing because I'm a nerd.
